"You are doing a great job!"
-Ashleigh Blatt

You guys are amazing! I asked and you answered.

Yes, the survey.  The super quick survey.  (Which btw - is still around if you have a moment and haven't filled it out.)

But essentially this is what you are telling me.
What you need to know.

You are doing a great job!

Ladies.
I am. not. kidding.

This is what you're doing.  You're starting businesses.  You're evolving businesses.   You are hustling.  Growing.  Generating people around you, an audience, a customer base that adore you.
Generating income.

Is it perfect?
No.
Is it going to be?
No.
Not today.

But here's the thing.  You are DOING it.  You are figuring it out.
You are stumbling - sure.  Fine.
So did my kid when she was learning to walk.
So did I when I learning to talk, to write, to podcast, to sell, to write, to connect.

Nothing is going to be perfect.
This process, this business that we are in is an evolution.
You have to accept that you are learning and give yourself that time.
Give yourself that credit too.  You are learning. AND doing.

This, my dear, is an entrepreneur's life.
You have good.  You have bad.  You have roller coasters.
You have sunny days that only a handful of people - or maybe even just you - could really ever understand.
Those wins are amazing.
Take them.  Hold on to them.

And keep going.
Keep going my dear friends.
You've got this.

I am not unsocial.  Not in the least.  I thrive on connecting.
But I realized in the month on our trips away that vacation isn't just about experiencing something new, connecting with family and friends.
It's about resting and getting whole again.

I posted almost nothing of our family trips.  Not because I don't want to share but I felt like I was jumping into the rabbit hole.
A rabbit hole of studying, watching and comparing myself, my life and business against the others.
I can't help it.
I compare posts against the real in my life.
I compare their edited perfectly calculated or not so calculated post against my work.  My life.

More and more people I know are discussing this.
More and more women are discussing how even though we are strong and confident, the social media around us, sucks us in.

And in turn - we are feeling bad about ourselves.
Bad about ourselves compared to the perfect post that was posted.

And in turn - more people are seeing real relationships, real connections, IN REAL LIFE relationships again.

What do you think?  What relationships can you bring from social to real life??

This week has been a #gameon mode.  I have channeled my inner Beyonce, Olivia Pope, Martha Stewart and Rachel Green all in one week.
It's been fun running into mom friends on the soccer field, talking shop with my business besties and keeping up with life and work in general!
It's a refresh and reminder that I believe we can (and do) do it all.
We are even working on some really fun and exciting stuff for The Power Squad Project that I can't wait to share with you all!

It's been one of those weeks.
I can't wait for the Friday cocktail hour!

THE POWER SQUAD PROJECT

But seriously, it's been GAME ON.  GAME ON. GAME ON.

But what I didn't expect was a very serious conversation about my daughter's allergies.

Mic drop.

This changed every priority.
Every feeling inside.

And with calm, ease and grace (on the outside) I politely discussed how my daughter has severe allergies and even though there is no formal policy around not having tree nuts near her, we need to ensure she is and will be safe.

Of course on the other end, they want to keep my girl safe.
"Let's keep her safe and make things fair for the other children."

Hmmm...
Ok.

Let's do that.

I am not at a clear end of this story yet.
But I am confident that we will come to an agreement and go on our merry ways. With my girl as safe as I need her to be.
It's that kind of decision.

The reason I share this story with you is because there are moments in your life when you just decide.
You decide THIS is how it will be.
THIS is the change that is going to occur.
THIS is what is right.

You know it because you FEEL it.

Not every decision is a life or death decision.  I get that.  But I can certainly name the real intentional decisions that have been made.

I know my very specific times when I "just decided"
Spring of 2015.  I walked inside my dream house and decided I had to have it. And I bought it.
January 1, 2016.  I decided I was changing my life.  And I did.
Spring of 2017.  I was changing my business.  And I did.

This internal mama bear mode happens.  It's this trigger.  This force.  This thing that's within.
And then the nothing is going to stop me decision.

Of course what's happening with my girl is one thing but it reminded me of the trigger.
The decision.  The action.  And the power behind the "nothing is going to stop me" mode.

Game on ladies. Game on.

He quickly made his credentials clear and then got to the heart of the issue. He was fluent in his topic and worked with few notes. He was calm and measured in his testimony, not rushed or over-enthusiastic. He asked for permission to speak and respectfully responded to questions. Rogers connected his audience with his product, a TV show aimed at children, by appealing to their own experience as children. He made sure to convey his mission, which was not to profit but to give his young audience 'an expression of care each day' so that they would realize that they're unique and that, famously, 'I like you just the way you are.'"

How are you feeling?

There's so much happening in everyone's lives right now.
Instead of being busy for busy sake, growth for the sake of growth my peers and friends are living through the effects of Harvey and Irma.
The effects of others stealing their information products down to the font type.
Effects of breakups and break-ins.
Effects of family matters good and yes, frustrating as heck too.

Effects of the unpredictable.
Movement to make them consider the WHY.  Why am I working so hard?  Why am I grinding this way?
Movement to make them consider the HOW.  How could this happen?  How did I let this happen?
Movement to self-care and conscious growth.

I have power.
I am powerful.
I have choices.
I can make different choices.

What I learned about business, surfing...

"My Passion for Surfing was More Than My Fear of Sharks."
-Bethany Hamilton

This week, my family and I were in Hawaii.  Gorgeous Hawaii.  We saw the Napoli Coast, we saw hundreds of dolphins, we ate an equal amount of poke.

THE POWER SQUAD PROJECT

We also took our first surfing lessons.
We are going to be "the family that surfs together, stays together".
God help us.

We had an introduction. Learned the basics. Practiced our moves and then within 10 minutes we were in the water.
My husband and I, my 6 year old and 5 year old.

The rule follower won.
She looked straight forward and stood up.
When she crashed into the water, she got back on her board and paddled back to the instructor.
She was screaming in delight and was immediately asking for bigger waves.
She even got pummeled by some whitewash and she did what she was told, she popped out the water with all smiles, got on her board and paddled back to the waves.

My little one rode a few waves on her belly.  Screaming in fear and excitement.
She took a break and built some sand castles.
Then when ready she was ready, she went back in the water.

My husband has been trying to surf for 3 years now.
It was me that made the lesson for us.
Within the first few waves, up he went.
Up he went, down he went and back on the board again.
Over and over and over again.

Me?
If only I could listen the first time.
Step by step I went forward.
I caught a couple of waves.  It was so fun!
It was a very similar feeling to playing golf.
In golf, when you hit a good shot, you working again for that awesome shot.
It's the same with surfing, as soon as the wave was caught, man you wanted to turn and do it again.

Same thing for business.
When it goes well, then how do you repeat?

The instructor told us "Face forward and that is the direction you will go in."
So darn true.
True in surfing, true in business, true in life.

What else? I realize that it doesn't matter if the approach is like that of my 6yo, my 5yo, my husband or even me.
We all got back in the water.  We all paddled forward.
We all fell.
We all pressed forward.

"The art of life is a constant re-adjustment to our surroundings." -Kakuzo Okakaura

With my first business, we were wildly successful right out of the gate.
It was so fun.
7 figures in 18 months.

We travelled the country, we were the experts called in set up really complicated systems OR fix the big messes from those who tried the DIY version first.
We were called by what the world considers THE experts to help them.  (Say what?)  A
And even one time I consulted on such a private gig that red lights went off on the floor because I was there and they had to describe the situation in terms of fish in a bowl.

LOL.

It was crazy and it was fun.
I left my house on Sunday evening or in time for the first flight on Monday morning and then didn't return until Thursday night.

I was traveling, I was the expert and it was fun.

Fast forward several years of travel and I missed being home.

When we decided to move to California, I was ready.
I was ready to give that all up.
I was moving to California and I was going to learn how to play tennis.

And maybe become besties with Maria.

THE POWER SQUAD PROJECT

Woo!!

The very moment we moved, I became pregnant with my first and my tennis plans were put on hold.
Hanging with Maria too.

Here's the thing when I was ready to start a new business, I knew I didn't want to travel anymore.  I knew I needed to stay home.
I know I needed to be a full-time working stay-at-home mom.

That's what I built.
So fun!
Again!

Yet, things keep changing.
I keep changing!
The evolution comes.
I built it, but now there's a move to build what I really really really want.

I feel so many women are going after what they really really really want.
And they are taking courageous steps to do so.  Courageous because it's very public today.
Every step and mis-step is going to hurt.
But it will also make you grow.

Does your business fit your needs?  Does it help you to use your gifts to serve others? What small changes might allow your business to better reflect and support who you are?

Baby steps are required.  Just as you did before. You can do it again.

Okay.  Let's talk Taylor Swift for a moment.  I mean, she was part of the inspiration for this here Power Squad.  She had her glam squad but man oh man, we needed our power squad!!

THE POWER SQUAD PROJECT

Okay. On to her.

She's been in the news the last few weeks!

First it was her awesome defense of the herself in that sexual assault lawsuit that she won...

“I’m being blamed for the unfortunate events of his life that are a product of his decisions. Not mine,” she said.

“Other than grabbing my ass against my will, underneath my skirt, and refusing to let go, he did not otherwise touch me inappropriately.”

THEN

There all of her social media channels went dark.
Blank.
Nothing was there.

Everyone kind of thought maybe she went cray cray and pulled a Britney after the trial.

But then she posted a video of a snake which has had nearly 7 million views

This of course was somehow tied to some of her "scandelous" relationships.  Team Kayne.  Team Katy P.  And the internet exploding into name calling you know who.
If you care to read up on that one - there it is

But here's the thing...

Taylor Swift's 'Look What You Made Me Do' Headed for No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 Next Week

Say what you will.  Say what you believe.  Take a side.  Or not.
But she's a doer.
Massive missteps, everyone has an opinion, and guess what...

She still comes out on top.

You have to be a doer.

New mantra for Swift September.  I'm a doer.
I'm a doer.
I'm a doer.
I'm a doer.
