5 of My Favorite Books

"There is no friend as loyal as a book." Ernest Hemingway

I hope you are able to take care of yourself during this week.

Two trends are happening right now.
The slow down and the speed up.

Wise words is what we need.

The end of the year is near.  It's a great time for reflection.
A great time to dream.
A great time to think on it.

While the world analyzes today's politics and Facebook execs wonder what on earth they did, I am taking a step back.
I am seeking, listening, filtering.

It feels like the calm before the storm.  (A friendly storm - of course!)

I don't have as much time to read as I used.  Ohhhh... how I love to read.
Today, I thought I would share with you the places I turn.

My favorite books and listens.

Lead Ladies Lead.

--> My all-time favorite book is Paint the Wind by Cathy Cash Spellman.  To me, it is the Gone with the Wind of the West with an epic story of some amazingly strong women.  I have given this out-of-print book as gifts literally dozens of times before Amazon took over the book world and before they made it a Kindle book.  If you do buy it, call me after you get past page 91.

--> Fail, Fail Again, Fail Better by Pema Chodron.  This woman, this once-married-now-nun is the wisest of women.  Just listening to hear her talk makes you feel like you are sitting next to your favorite grandmother.  Her words are calm and wise.

Manage This.

--> Leap First: Creating Work That Matters by Seth Godin.  Seth is the market man.  If you type "Seth" into Google, his name comes up.  I listen to this oldie-but-goodie book probably once a quarter.

--> Relentless From Good to Great to Unstoppable by Tim Grover.  I love this book.  I love this coach.  I listen to this book when I need a hard kick in the *ss.  I have looked high and low for a coach to talk to like I am a man.  You'll understand once you hear Tim talk.

--> Profit First: Transform Your Business from a Cash-Eating Monster to a Money-Making Machine by Mike Michalowicz.  Give yourself the gift of money, comfort, and ease.  I used a very similar system when I first went into business for myself.  While everyone around me was spending their hard earned money, I learned what to do with it.  It set me up for a lifetime of invaluable lessons.

Last but not least.

--> I am so happy to be a part of the Viral Content Summit!  There are some super amazing speakers and women that talk all things online business!  Me? I talk about how I am the only person I know who has kept their New Year's Resolution.  Really.  I have done it now 3x over and share the insight there!  Join the Waiting List here!

Quick side note from Ashleigh.  Here are my most favorite tools ever.

  • For audio motivation - Relentless by Tim Grover. I listen to him as I was in the mornings.  My walk always becomes a power walk after listening.
  • To focus during the day I love to focus@will.  They say music helps you focus and for me it surely does.  I blare the classical music.  I am not sure how many people my age choose that over techno but either way I love it.
  • Rosemarie Groner (from the Busy Budgeter) is a friend and I just LOVE how much she gives everything away.  She tells you and anyone she can her detailed way to making money!  Start with her Pinterest Strategy Guide that is worth every penny.  Not. going. to. lie.
