What you should add in the New Year..

"Power is not given to you.  You have to take it." Beyonce

James Altucher wrote this great post about what he’s getting rid of in 2018 and it got me thinking.

What do I want to add?  What will I do in 2018?

Instead of refusing to do something, I am going to focus elsewhere.

I am going to focus on having the things I love around me.
That’s what I have decided.

In my (upcoming) 40th year, I am going to have around me the things I love.

And if it’s missing, I will add it.

So far, for my (upcoming) 40th year, here’s what I have come up with.

—> When I workout, it’s going to be in a way that I love.  Stairs at the beach.  Surfing.  Skiing.  Walking and hiking with friends or while listening to a great audiobook.  A fun TRX class.

—> Drinking Rombauer wine as my house wine.  It’s pricey sure, but I don’t drink *that* much and I love it.  So why not?

—> Only work with the people I adore, in a way that both her and me forward.

—> Travel with my bestie. @Heather, we’re going away.

—> Beach time with the girls and our friends.  We did it this past year and those playdates were the best times ever.

—> KPI obsession.  I love growing numbers and am pretty obsessed.   But I also know areas where I can add add add to that obsession.  So… #gameon

—> True true authenticity.  I am not going to worry so much about what others think.  Instead, I am going to believe in the greater good and my own power.

—> Clothes.  There are stores in town that I when I walk into them, this sense of calm and wonder comes over me.  That’s where I want to shop from.

—> WSJ.  I love the Wall Street Journal.  I am a nerd like that and just love it.  Of all the things I buy and all the money I waste I shake my head at myself, “why on earth do I not have a subscription?!”  I don’t know why.  So for my 40th, that will be my treat to myself.

I am not making a resolution.  I don’t believe in resolutions even though I am the only one I know to keep them.

I have made a decision.

Made the decision.

This is what 2018 will look like for me.

What are you adding?

Lead Ladies Lead.

--> Holiday sales were up 4.9% the highest since 2011.  Go get yours, Mama!

--> It's shady over @ Apple with their intentional slowdown of old phones and the lawsuits are popping up!  #imissstevejobstoo

Manage This.

--> Wal-Mart Suspends Shoplifting Punishment That Court Called ‘Extortion’.  What do we care about this?  Well, 1, it's kind of crazy that Walmart was looking to make money off of shoplifters!! And 2, it shows there is money to be made everywhere!  How many income streams do you have?

--> 9 Books You Must Read, According to Some of the Biggest Names in Tech.  I just bought this book.

--> What to throw away now.  103 things.  (Okay, forget throwing things away, donate!) . Just in the last few days, I have gone through placemats, kitchen towels, cookbooks.   If I don't love it or haven't used it... out it went!  #sodarnfun!

Quick side note from Ashleigh.  Here are my most favorite tools ever.

  • For audio motivation - Relentless by Tim Grover. I listen to him as I was in the mornings.  My walk always becomes a power walk after listening.
  • To focus during the day I love to focus@will.  They say music helps you focus and for me it surely does.  I blare the classical music.  I am not sure how many people my age choose that over techno but either way I love it.
  • Rosemarie Groner (from the Busy Budgeter) is a friend and I just LOVE how much she gives everything away.  She tells you and anyone she can her detailed way to making money!  Start with her Pinterest Strategy Guide that is worth every penny.  Not. going. to. lie.
