"To adventure & fellowship" courtesy of Jeff Bezos

"I walk slowly but I never walk backwards." -Abraham Lincoln

I love the summed up story of Abraham Lincoln.
One man.
Many failures.
Many setbacks.
A continuous stand for his convictions.
A forward thinker, a progressive thinker.
And a doer.
157 years ago today he was elected 16th president.  He ended slavery, won the Civil War, set up Reconstruction, the US Banking System, enabled poor people to buy land, created the USDA.

One person.  Many failures.  Many setbacks.
But he remained committed and was a doer.

Happy Monday Loves!
Today is your day!

LEAD. Lovelies.  Lead.

--> Jeff Bezos gave an intimate interview this past weekend and it was super interesting to here.  Some highlights?  He learned resourcefulness from his grandfather by spending the summers on his farm.  There was nothing they couldn't learn or figure out.  He lets his kids, young kids, use knives at home because they need to learned resilience and resourcefulness.  He believes in work-life harmony rather than "balance" because with balance sounds like a trade-off.  And his go-to toast was: “To adventure and fellowship” he says. He says he chose the ‘fellowship’ instead of just ‘friendship’ because, “for me the word fellowship conjures a vision of traveling down the road together.”

--> More and more companies are localizing their help.  It creates connection and collaboration.  Think on it.

--> And if you doo have a remote team remember --> You are not alone.  Even though you feel it.  You have to over communicate especially with a remote team!

--> A BIG CHEER!

Quick side note from Ashleigh.  Here are my most favorite tools ever.

  • For audio motivation - Relentless by Tim Grover. I listen to him as I was in the mornings.  My walk always becomes a power walk after listening.
  • To focus during the day I love to focus@will.  They say music helps you focus and for me it surely does.  I blare the classical music.  I am not sure how many people my age choose that over techno but either way I love it.
  • Rosemarie Groner (from the Busy Budgeter) is a friend and I just LOVE how much she gives everything away.  She tells you and anyone she can her detailed way to making money!  Start with her Pinterest Strategy Guide that is worth every penny.  Not. going. to. lie
