"I will not be another flower picked for my beauty and left to die. I will be wild, difficult to find and impossible to forget." -Erin Van Vuren
Woo! It's the end of the week! Time to celebrate!
But here's the deal... all week long you're running around. I know it. You know it. We live it.
I know you are working hard.
I know it.
I KNOW IT.
And I know the feeling of trying to change something and struggling to do so. Like I am missing that gene, that gift. I once saw a cute cartoon that showed how much sleep you needed based on your zodiac sign. Of course mine, Aquarius, said I needed 10 hours of sleep at night and then to sleep the whole weekend through!!
I know. I love sleep. I tell my girls. I LOVE naps and only wish I could take more and more! I am missing that gene. I soooo wish I was one of those people who operated awesomely on a standard 5 hours a night. Could wake up at 4 and work for 3 hours before the world wakes up.
No. That's not me. I'd die if I tried to do that.
I meet people all the time who are frustrated with how little they get done. How they are not farther along in their business. Shoot, even my clients those with platforms in the hundreds of thousands, look to the next big star and wish they were at that level.
Everyone explains to me why they aren't further along. What special circumstance is happening ... that is hurting them. They have sick littles. A husband who is semi-supportive. Friends who just don't get it. Connections you don't have yet. Things you just can't do.
I have my circumstances too. I can't travel as I wish for. I have girls that require my time, my being there all. the. time. The husband who can't be around though he wishes he could.
But here's the thing. None of these issues are anything that is holding you back. None of which is holding me back.
I say this because I care. If we were having drinks, I would listen to every last story and pour more wine. But I would also tell you there's nothing you can't do. Given the hand you have been dealt, the hand that is in front of you right now, you can do it.
I'll complain about my husband (just a little) and gossip about that "friend". We will laugh and dance to 90s hip hop.
But I won't let you get away with you being hard on yourself.
We all have stuff.
Hidden stuff too.
I want to tell you it's all his fault. If only it were another way. But this is the way.
These are the cards. This is the hand you are playing.
So play the hand you have been dealt. Slowly but surely play and win. Play and win. Play and win. Play and win until winning gets too easy. Then move on up.
Your success, I believe, starts with being kind to yourself.
As my gift to you, starting the week of October 23 we will forgo the regular Power Squad Project emails and focus on a Journey to understanding You Are Doing A Great Job! (Plus as an added bonus I will share with you 5 tools I use to keep in the right frame of mind while also progressing forward!)
LEAD. Lovelies. Lead.
--> Credibility goes a long way. Harvard Business Review suggests these ways ways to build it! Cliff notes version: Leverage your research skills, embrace a specific contribution, volunteer willingly, manage your workload and communicate proactively, build a network of close relationships.
--> Facebook ads are the jam. Long bearded man ran the ads for the Trump campaign. They created thousands and thousands of ads to get in front of the 15 and 1500 people. They tested every color of every button, backgrounds, copy and titles. Thousands upon thousands of ads. Facebook says it will now make it more transparent if you see a political ad. Maybe ads are the skill to learn today! Think on it.
--> Did you know the men who took down the Vegas shooter were not working that night? They heard on the radio that something was happening, they all four men separately, jumped in their cars and ran into the scene. RAN INTO the scene, onto the 32nd floor to stop the shooter. They were not working. And they ran to help. #gavemechills
Quick side note from Ashleigh. Here are my most favorite tools ever.
- For audio motivation - Relentless by Tim Grover. I listen to him as I was in the mornings. My walk always becomes a power walk after listening.
- To focus during the day I love to focus@will. They say music helps you focus and for me it surely does. I blare the classical music. I am not sure how many people my age choose that over techno but either way I love it.
- Rosemarie Groner (from the Busy Budgeter) is a friend and I just LOVE how much she gives everything away. She tells you and anyone she can her detailed way to making money! Start with her Pinterest Strategy Guide that is worth every penny. Not. going. to. lie
