Walking into the fire of fear.

"You're a good lawyer, but you're always waiting for people to give you things."-Kalinda, The Good Wife

About once a year, maybe two, I binge watch old tv.
I have watched the Friday Night Lights series at least 5 times.
Mind you I skip Season 2 (it's the worst season) and keep it on in the background while other things are happening.

I love the show because it very intricately shows the good in people.
It shows the everyday acts, not big, not grand, the everyday acts of... scratch that... the everyday gifts people give one another.
There's gifts in friendships, in honesty, in standing up for yourself and others.
Gifts in time and patience.
There is no terrible person because everyone has a story.

Now I am watching the old series The Good Wife.
Hellooo Power Women!
Quite literally I am watching from Amazon Prime.
And I am obsessed.

There multiple turning points in the story including a great love story.
But what I love is the women in the story live their lives, do their jobs but also, very intentionally - at times - make strategic, impactful actions.

They are all different.
They are all honest.
They all are doing their best.
Then they all, the women I am talking about, take specific action.

Action, instead of fear.
Action instead of standstill.
Action and words instead of complacency.

I am obsessed.

Jimmy Iovine, the billionaire behind Beats and Dr. Dre said he sees his fear and runs right into it.

What makes you stand still?  Where are you staying quiet for the sake of ease?
You'll feel better being honest with yourself.

One baby step.  Or one giant step. One at a time.
You've got this.

LEAD. Lovelies.  Lead.

-->  Boom, Bust & Bankruptcy.  How America's Biggest Companies Performed in Forbes' First 100 Years.   Maybe you care.  Maybe you don't.  But data wins.   Look at their data.  Look at YOURS.

-->  Last week we talked about our tennis coach, how's the expert yet still learning.  He's obsessed with his sport and sharing his skills.  Forward thinking - isn't that true leadership?  Here's a leader that thinks so too!

--> If you want to feel better - spend money on saving time.  Yes, outsource.  Anyway. you. can.  Grocery delivery, housekeeping, VA assistance.

--> Love me some Google Chrome Extensions.  Here's a list of favorites.  Evernote for the win for me!

--> Maybe we should train all our men around us to be warm and funny.  #yourewelcome

Quick side note from Ashleigh.  Here are my most favorite tools ever.

  • For audio motivation - Relentless by Tim Grover. I listen to him as I was in the mornings.  My walk always becomes a power walk after listening.
  • To focus during the day I love to focus@will.  They say music helps you focus and for me it surely does.  I blare the classical music.  I am not sure how many people my age choose that over techno but either way I love it.
  • Rosemarie Groner (from the Busy Budgeter) is a friend and I just LOVE how much she gives everything away.  She tells you and anyone she can her detailed way to making money!  Start with her Pinterest Strategy Guide that is worth every penny.  Not. going. to. lie

--> I talked with Janel Hutton from Nellie Bellie on the podcast and absolutely LOVED it!  She's amazing, evolving and her way of defining success is quite insightful!  It's the way I am going to go from here on!!
