"I wish I could freeze this moment.  Right here.  Right now." - Yours Truly

How many times have you thought you were going to run out of time?
That you wouldn't have enough time?
That you have so much to do, so much to say, so much to accomplish - how in the world would you possibly, could you ever possibly do it all?

Like.  How in the world would you possibly, could you ever possibly do it all?

You must be doing something wrong.
Maybe there's something wrong with you.

I meet ladies all the time that are frustrated with where they are in life.  In business.
They have this inability to break bad habits.
Always saying yes to everyone else.
Taking on more then they can handle.
Pleasing.  Pleasing everybody.

There are special circumstances that brought them here.
There are special circumstances that keep them there.

Not enough time.
Not enough space.
Not enough ...

I get it.
Sometimes I live it too.  We're human right.
I was on vacay with the girls last week, as you know, and I wanted everything.  I want everything.  I am ravenous for it.  I wanted the entire pizza from 2 Amy's with a oaky chardonnay.  I wanted to sit in the lively restaurant with my family until they rolled me out of there.  I wanted more and more blue crabs.  I wanted to soak in the memories of our old home and wonderful neighborhood.  I wanted to stand under the bright green 100 year old trees that canopied the streets.  The streets I used to live on.  I wanted to knock on my neighbor's door even though they no longer live there.  I wanted the tour of the Capitol to never end.  Could I circle around every statue and soak it in.  Just a minute more.

Now I am home and no surprise, I want it all.  I want to soak in the final moments of World of Dance because that's what my girls like so much too.  I want to double paint their nails so it gets just right.  I want my girlfriends to connect with me and my coaches too.  Heh, let's not forget my clients.  Ohhhh my favorite clients, I have jumped right in!  Now that I am home I could devour a pound of super fresh strawberries and ice cold tea, just how I like it.

I am ravenous for life.
It's a good thing I know.

My tea leaf reading (yes, tea leaf reading) said slow down.
It was humbling to hear.  Slow down?  But there's so much to do.

But I did.
I am.

I went so slow I took a nap.
Then I changed music on a playlist.  It's been bothering me.
Then I emailed 11 people I had been meaning to.  Nope.  12.
My Audible account went back down to a speed of 1.0.
"Sure thing Loves, let's paint your fingers and nails 10 separate colors.  With the patterns criss-crossing feet to bottom.  2 coats."
My coaching call was not focused on squeezing every last bit of data out but rather it was about re-thinking, reminding, re-purposing, re-connecting.

If I didn't care about you, I wouldn't say a thing.
I would say go after everything.
Grab everything.
Experience everything.

But really, everything is right there in front of you to experience.
A sense of relief and ease happens.
That gratitude comes in.

I'm a really great shoulder to cry on.
I can gossip, watch trash tv and drink too much wine just like your bestie!

I mean, yep, I am a great girlfriend.
I'm not going to lie.  I can be super fun.

But I am not really here to be your best girlfriend.
I am also here to go into mama bear mode ... for you.
I very much care and want to share the good choices that are being made.
The life changing choices.

And so I enter "mama bear mode" for you.

The Power Squad Project

Speed is haste.
Speed is waste.
Being ravoneous is less fun as you roll out of 2 Amy's.
Because you can't enjoy the rest of the evening, you're so darn full, you ate too fast, you devoured too much.
It came and it went.
And then heartburn comes in...

You can't enjoy -- really enjoy -- what's right in front of you.

Time is on your side.
Focusing on more than one thing, I realize, creates waste.

Getting control over your time, where you spend your time and the decisions you make around them is what matters.

Let me repeat.
 It's about control.
Keeping control over yourself and your priorities.
So you CAN live out your most ravenous self...
but in a much healthier way.
Much more fulfilling way.

It's not going to happen unless you decide.

Ashleigh - you're the only one I know who kept her New Year's Resolution.  How'd you do it?  I decided.
Ashleigh - how'd change your life like that?  I decided.
Ashleigh - how do you have so much confidence?  I decided.
Ashleigh - how did you keep the weight off?  I decided.
Ashleigh - how did you slow down?  I decided.

I know exactly how it feels to feel behind and wish I had more space, energy and time.
What I know is none of it changes without a decision made.
Yes, I am going to slow down.
Yes, the turtle won the race.

Whatever your situation is today, it's a starting point.  Blame this starting point on the world and make the decision to move on.
Slow down to speed up.
Find the time to slow down.
Then decide.

Do what's been nagging at you.
Do what's right and not fast.

And of course buy yourself a sweet treat for making a decision... Use an app or a planner if it makes you feel better. (I just one similar to this from Lily Pultzer for myself.)
This is mama bear speaking to you!
Slow down to speed up.
Today.

Quick side note from Ashleigh.  Here are my most favorite tools ever.

  • To focus during the day I love to focus@will.  They say music helps you focus and for me it surely does.  I blare the classical music.  I am not sure how many people my age choose that over techno but either way I love it.
