"When you know what you want,

and want it bad enough,
you will find a way to get it." - Jim Rohn

Do you know that feeling when you instantly know what is right for you?
The HB and I moved into our dream home 2 years ago and 2 months.  We had searched for "the perfect home" for literally 5 years before pulling the trigger on the next big purchase.  Truth be told, I could have purchased several homes and would have been perfectly happy with them.  But my husband wanted to wait for "it".  He didn't want to spend all the money we had to get into the best neighborhood we could for a house he wasn't thrilled to come home to.

I get that.  And so we waited.   My husband would troll Redfin and other sites to see what houses are on the market.
Every weekend we would go to open houses.

Then, just like that, out of nowhere and in a completely unexpected time, we found. IT.
When we walked into the open house, we walked through, smiling and nodding.  We casually looked around and honestly, we tried not to drop our jaw in front of the realtors. Maybe even each other. Then we walked back into the back porch which was private, covered and set up as an outdoor living room.  We made one more pit stop look around in the back and before we ever went back into the house I hid myself from the realtors and told my husband I didn't need to see upstairs, we were putting an offer on this house.

It was our dream.

When we got back in the car, my husband said we had to "sit down and figure out if we could afford it".  You see, we had been casually looking for so long we never talked with a single finance person about what was realistic.  What was affordable.  What was a good investment.  We just knew our finances and had some opinions.

Just like that I turned home, dropped our plans and went home.
"Where are we going?" he asked.
"Home to figure out if we can afford it."

That evening we got a pre-approval on the home and submitted to the agent our intent to buy.
The next day I ran around town with our realtor to confirm the other houses we were looking at were not IT.
(And really each house we looked at made the case for our house being even better.)

I signed the paperwork to make the formal offer.
I wrote a letter to the owners telling them this was our dream home.

And the next day.  Out of the multiple offers the owners received, we were in escrow.
Just like that.

As I think about it, the biggest things in my life that have happened have been because deep in my gut, I knew it was right.
Right for me.
And I jumped on it.

Patience, work, vision and then jump on it.
Jump on the opportunity.

Patience, work, vision and then jump.
Patience, work, vision and then jump.
Patience, work, vision and then jump.
Patience, work, vision and then jump.
Over and over and over again.

  • To focus during the day I love to focus@will.  They say music helps you focus and for me it surely does.  I blare the classical music.  I am not sure how many people my age choose that over techno but either way I love it.

--> Have you thought further about adding money and funding into your business?  I talked with a fellow Founder of a software platform.  They received angel investment from some awesome business owners in their local town.  The market for this SaaS is right on point.  Today is the time, the trend is in their favor and they have grown 300% in the last 2 years.  Now they are competing against a similar SaaS that has $40 million in funding, far more than they have, and are still crushing it.   Do you think funding makes the difference?

Remember we shared about how thousands of people signed up for sewage cleanup duty.  Well the story is thousands signed up unknowningly because in those pesky terms & conditions it had a clause about cleanup grossness!

I shared the post with my go-to legal expert Sarah Kornblet.  Here's what she had to say about it!

"What an amazing article and illustration of *WHY* it’s not a bad idea to give those terms of use a once over!  We spend lots of time on the web - browsing, purchasing, reading - all the while agreeing to Terms of Use, Service, and stuff that many don’t take the time to read. BUT we as users, are legally bound to a lot of these agreements (whether we know it or not)!  This company was playing a joke but it serves as a great example (and no, all these people aren’t going to have to clean toilets cause there are lots o’ legal arguments why this clause wouldn’t hold up in court!)"
