Are you a giver? Or a taker?

“Imitation is the

sincerest form of flattery
that mediocrity can pay to greatness.”

― Oscar Wilde

It can be so darn frustrating to see other people copy what’s yours.  To see other people potentially succeed on what you want or even have today.

I have this very same thing happening between two of my clients.  They are “friends” but I swear at least one of them is keeping the other close - just to get the ideas and to “keep your enemies closer”.

It’s crazy.  1 says she wants a tv show based on X.  Then all of a sudden the bigger #2 is doing it.  1 says she wants to interview this person from this show.  Boom #2 is doing it.  1 says she wants to do a promotion like such.  Guess what happens??  Boom #2 is on it.

I keep saying to #1 - stop talking to #2 !! Stop sharing your ideas!

But then we also, very much see how #1 is keeping her head down, making positive connections and creating awesome relationships.  Everyday darn day this woman is talking with her audience, connecting with people “bigger” and “smaller” than her.  I get texts all. the. time. (b/c I am also her target) - is this on track?  Does this add value?  Do you love it?  Hate it?

While #2 is much “bigger”, has a stronger celeb status and can call up most companies and ask for anything she wants.  She is also quite unprofessional and very fly by the seat of your pants.  She ticks people off, is often rude and really, if you were to dig deep, unprofessional.

#1 on the other hand is grateful.   Is interested.  Is concerned.  Has dreams and hopes so darn big.  And every darn day she is plugging away.   And guess whose growth is double digits bigger than #2.
I have no doubt in my mind #1 will far surpass #2.  No doubt.  No doubt. No doubt.

That’s a long way to say… You do you.  Don’t worry about the others.

Quick side note from Ashleigh.  Here are my most favorite tools ever.

  • For audio motivation - Relentless by Tim Grover. I listen to him as I was in the mornings.  My walk always becomes a power walk after listening.
  • To focus during the day I love to focus@will.  They say music helps you focus and for me it surely does.  I blare the classical music.  I am not sure how many people my age choose that over techno but either way I love it.
  • Rosemarie Groner (from the Busy Budgeter) is a friend and I just LOVE how much she gives everything away.  She tells you and anyone she can her detailed way to making money!  Start with her Pinterest Strategy Guide that is worth every penny.  Not. going. to. lie.
