The things I am not supposed to tell you.

"Sometimes you will not value the moment until it becomes a memory." -Dr. Seuss

Woo! It's the start of new week and as we reviewed the biggest story was Harvey Weinstein's outing.  Even The Academy evoked his membership.  Woo.
As I reviewed my personal week, I saw a mix of productivity and slacking off.  A mix of highs and lows.

Here's the truth.  What I am not supposed to tell you.
It's full.  It's busy.  It's all over the place.  But that's okay too.
Very very intentionally not only do I have a full life, I have a FULL life.

It's not yet a perfect system but I do very specifically make time for the things that are important to me.
Time for my family.
Time for myself.
Time for my interests.
My business, my growth, my give back.

Very intentionally we pull these activities in the week.  All week.  All day.
Here's what last week looked like, as an example.

I was super productive Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and then got the bare minimum done on Thursday and Friday.
My husband laughed at me because he put me to bed at 8pm on Friday!  I was really quite tired!

Monday and Tuesday I spent in the weeds of technical aspects of a big project we are working.
Link here.  Click here.  Test here.  Every aspect was reviewed as set the foundation for something exciting coming!
I wrote and wrote and wrote.  Will someone please edit it for me!
I worked all week with my designer and then got a good talking to by my amazing OBM!
I had a nice meeting with a new friend and a brutal convo too.

I was interviewed by Kimberly Baker for the Super Soul Series.  Aack - no makeup and post workout!   But it was so fun!
I drove a solid 2+ hours everyday with my kiddos in tow and even got in a back and forth with my husband about it!
"YES!  The car is right.  We have been driving for 2:41 minutes.  No, it's not wrong.  It's a new car!"

I went for a walk with my bestie and her baby on Thursday and then for the rare mid-day ocean-at-our-feet lunch with my husband on Friday.

I bought a wetsuit.  Yes.  A wetsuit. It took me nearly 10 minutes to get in the darn thing.  (Please pray for me as I take my 2nd surf lesson #doitscared)
I bought my girls new ski jackets and planned our winter ski trips with my husband.
I finished watching Downton Abbey.

I started listening to Principles by Ray Dalio a Tony Robbins recommendation when we methim!

Oh yeah - and let's not forget the client calls.  They are so fun.
One client is launching a new product and is going to CRUSH it.
Another found her secret magic touch in social media and is growing at a phenomenal rate.  She's connecting too with some really amazing folks!
It's fun times.  I am so happy to help guide that growth!

I had a great date night and planned some more with friends.
I removed Facebook and email from my phone.  (That has been quite liberating too!)

Here's why I tell you all of this.

It IS a busy life.
We have a full life.
I am not just one thing.
I am not "just" an entrepreneur.
Or "just" a mom.
Not "just" a woman or a friend.
Life is complicated, full and certainly harder when I go off someone else's timeline.
Harder when I compartmentalize.
Harder when I add in the unnecessary.

Think on it my friends.  Where is your time best spent?  What are you giving time to that you don't need to?
Double down on where you want to spend your time.  Focus there.

LEAD. Lovelies.  Lead.

--> Amazon isn't the fastest car on the highway, it's the highway.  Amazon's 3rd party businesses are being sold for millions.

--> Nike won Fast Company's The Most Important Design Innovation for 2017 with this lightweight moisture holding hijab.  Nike's attempt is to be inclusive, some are stating is supportive of oppression of women.  What do you think?  I think being a leader also means you are going to make some people happy, some people upset and sometimes you're going to make big mistakes.  I know I will watch for how the world reacts.

--> "If people feel like they belong and genuinely care about one another, they will be more creative, resilient, and eager to contribute at work."  A Harvard Business Review article talks about how business relationships are 30% down from 2004.

-->  Give it whirl.

Quick side note from Ashleigh.  Here are my most favorite tools ever.

  • For audio motivation - Relentless by Tim Grover. I listen to him as I was in the mornings.  My walk always becomes a power walk after listening.
  • To focus during the day I love to focus@will.  They say music helps you focus and for me it surely does.  I blare the classical music.  I am not sure how many people my age choose that over techno but either way I love it.
  • Rosemarie Groner (from the Busy Budgeter) is a friend and I just LOVE how much she gives everything away.  She tells you and anyone she can her detailed way to making money!  Start with her Pinterest Strategy Guide that is worth every penny.  Not. going. to. lie
