What my client needed...

The Power Squad Project

There are no traffic jams along the extra mile. ~ Roger Staubach

What do you do?
I comfort people.

What do you do?
I give them confidence.

No really, what do you do?
No really, that's what I do.

I'm the "Oprah" for women entrepreneurs.
No, it's not presumptuous.  It's real.
It's real in a mama-bear mode, of course.

I got a text on Monday morning 8am after the hubby, her hubby, went to work I presume.
I was on vacay with my husband who was still resting.  No work calls accepted.
Trust me.

So we texted.
Her "friend", yet friendly competitor, was demanding she back down from her business.
The friend talked how coordinating work efforts.
Because really, we know, she wanted the best.
She was preventing her from creating more connections.
Was lessening her opportunity for advancement.

My client wanted to know what to do.  What to say.

I was floored.
What do you mean?  What do you do?

You tell the other woman no.  The requests being made are unacceptable.
The requests being made will hold my client back.

I mean - is that the most ridiculous thing you have ever heard?
This is what you do, unapologetically, you say NO

No, I am not going to do that.
No, I am going to comply with your request.
No, I appreciate you looking out for me (with a giant smile hiding the passive aggressive one) but that won't work for me.

Say it as nice as your stomach can muster.
Come up with a way that the two of you can work together, if you (YOU) want.
Have a polite conversation.
Smile and nod if you so choose.

But NO.

You will not hold back.
You will not vet your work through her before proceeding forward.
You will do you best.
You support her.
And you will continue to do your best.

The Power Squad Project

Quick side note from Ashleigh.  Here are my most favorite tools ever.

  • For audio motivation - Relentless by Tim Grover. I listen to him as I was in the mornings.  My walk always becomes a power walk after listening.
  • To focus during the day I love to focus@will.  They say music helps you focus and for me it surely does.  I blare the classical music.  I am not sure how many people my age choose that over techno but either way I love it.
  • Rosemarie Groner (from the Busy Budgeter) is a friend and I just LOVE how much she gives everything away.  She tells you and anyone she can her detailed way to making money!  Start with her Pinterest Strategy Guide that is worth every penny.  Not. going. to. lie.
